Customer Service Representative

The individual who functions in this position must carry out all of the functions associated with being a Customer Service Representative. This position encompasses responsibility for developing and maintaining positive customer relations. The individual in this position sells appropriate products, provides service and seeks solutions to customer requirements. To qualify an individual must be able to perform all of the following:
- Obtain all necessary information and accurately calculate a prompt quotation for all customer inquiries and recommend solutions or better configurations to enhance the customer’s product.
- Negotiate, within prescribed limits, to secure orders and obtain competitive information whenever possible.
- Review all customer inquiries to establish necessary information to produce products that meet all the customer specifications, including final application data, surface finish requirements and production tolerances.
- Complete accurately and promptly order entry formal paperwork, including review of original estimate database against final customer requirements.
- Provide customer service support to the sales representatives in their efforts to acquire new or additional business, which may include periodic travel to visit a key customer or potential customer
- Maintain open order database to accommodate revisions to values, quantity/scope, requested delivery dates or cancellations.
- Respond to customer requests for information regarding order status. Notify customers of potential delays in shipment and expedite orders as requested by customer.
- Seek a solution to all customer complaints while maintaining good customer relations.
- Other duties and assignments as required.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equlavent
- Two years of college with a concentration of courses in business or equivalent work experience preferred
- Requires mathematical computation skills
- Requires good computer skills, strong telephone communication skills, and good command of English language and proper grammar
- Requires ability to persuade and negotiate
- Working knowledge of general office procedures
- 1-2 years in sales environment with direct telephone customer contact
- Minimum of 1 year in an industrial environment
